CHURCH HISTORY
Flowery Mount
Baptist Church's origins began in August, 1967 when
Reverend Floyd Moore was called to pastor the New
Mount Moriah Baptist Church. In 1969, the church's
name was changed from New Mount Moriah Baptist Church
to Flowery Mount Baptist Church at the request of
the late Mother Coleman. Mother Coleman stated that
the Church reminded her of heavenly bouquet of flowers.
In 1972 Reverend
Floyd Moore had a vision to enlarge God's Kingdom
from a store front to a new construction building.
Located at 13603 Linwood. His theme while building
God's new edifice was "I'm on the wall and
I can't come down" Nehemiah 4:6. The Late Floyd
Moore served faithfully for 27 years.
On September
18, 1992 the Lord called his long time servant Rev.
Floyd Moore home. In June of 1993, the former Deacon
Daniel Moore, the son of the Late Floyd Moore was
ordained in June 1993. He was installed as Pastor
of the Flowery Mount Baptist Church 1994. In 1994
St. Mary's Baptist Church joined in with Flowery
Mount Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev.
Houston Jones.
Our ground breaking
ceremony took place in June 2006. In August 2007
we marched into our new edifice located at 13616
Linwood. The Lord has continued to enlarge our territory
and bless our many ministries, which supports our
community.
